Epiphany Know/Show Charts

We have standards to uphold—not just the assessed standards, but all standards. True mastery requires attention to the full curriculum, not only the skills that appear on an assessment.

Know/Show Charts are designed to make standards actionable by identifying both the Know (the knowledge students must understand) and the Show (the visible evidence of learning students must demonstrate). Each chart translates standards into clear instructional expectations that support planning, teaching, intervention, and assessment.


Every standard includes:

  • Know/Show Components that clarify what students must learn and demonstrate
  • Standards-Based Question Stems that elicit the cognitive demand of the standard
  • Common Misconceptions students may experience
  • Instructional Responses that help teachers proactively address those misconceptions


Currently, this resource is available for upper-level English courses. Other grade levels and courses are under development and will be added over time. While many instructional resources focus primarily on tested standards, Know/Show Charts provide comprehensive support for the full set of standards teachers are responsible for teaching and students are expected to master.
